Daniel has been training Aikido since 2001 and joined Aikido Doushin Juku in 2005. He currently holds second degree black belt in Aikido. Daniel moved to Colorado from Michigan in 2004 for school. He eventually fell in love with the area and decided to stay after graduation. At work, Daniel is an acoustics and AV engineer, working with architects to build recording studios, theaters and similar spaces for appropriate acoustics and technology integration. When not at work or at the dojo, Dan is usually keeping busy with his friends, hiking in the mountains, or chilling at the local coffeeshop reading a book. Some of Daniel's other hobbies include backpacking, sailing and, most recently, motorcycling. Daniel enjoys training Doushin Juku Aikido because of the friendly atmosphere and great students and friends he has made there. |

Eric Des Marais began aikido in Sendai, Japan in 1998 under Shirakawa Sensei. In 1999, he started practicing Classical Aikido under John Stevens Sensei at Tohoku Fukushi University. Based on the teachings of Rinjiro Shirata, one of the pre-war uchideshi of O Sensei, it is a rigorous system incorporating both the extensive body and weapons curricula of Shirata Sensei and the spiritual practices of misogi and kototama. Eric earned his second degree black belt from Stevens Sensei in 2003. We are happy to have Des Marais Sensei join Aikido Doushinjuku’s cadre of instructors. |
